1968 Olympic Black Power Salute.

greatest fucking gif on tumblr.

iconic

The absolute greatest.

I remember when I was a kid being taught that Black Power was a dangerous and violent movement, and then growing up and realizing that was bullshit, and that moment of being like NOT EVERYTHING I EVER KNEW IS TRUE.
Black Power and what I knew about it was the first thing I learned to question, and though as a movement it is not relevant to me as a white person, I feel some connection with it through that memory.

^In case y’all didn’t know that this is shit that white teachers actually TEACH kids in school, that the Black Power movement was dangerous and VIOLENT and that the Black Panthers were the Black equivalent of the KKK.
In case anyone says racism is a concept and not a goddamn practice.

Black power
